Setberg
A remote cultural site with historic roots on Snæfellsnes
Setberg is a quiet and historically significant location situated on the northern side of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in western Iceland. Though small and lesser-known to international visitors, Setberg has deep cultural roots, once home to a church and parsonage that played a role in Icelandic religious and local history. The area offers expansive views of the surrounding mountains and coastline, with a calm, contemplative atmosphere far from tourist crowds. It’s an excellent stop for those exploring the rich heritage of the Snæfellsnes region, often called “Iceland in Miniature” for its diverse landscapes. While there aren’t many facilities, its simplicity and solitude give visitors a strong sense of place and connection to Iceland’s rural past.
