Reyðarfjörður Viewpoint – Oddsskarð
A panoramic fjord view from a historic mountain pass
This scenic viewpoint lies along Oddsskarðsvegur, the old mountain road connecting Eskifjörður and Reyðarfjörður in East Iceland. From this high perch, visitors are treated to sweeping views over Reyðarfjörður — one of the longest and deepest fjords in the East. Once the main route before a tunnel was built in 2017, Oddsskarð offers a dramatic drive through snow-prone terrain, especially in winter. The viewpoint itself is a quiet, wind-swept location ideal for photos, reflection, or a roadside pause. It captures the unique beauty of the Eastfjords: steep mountains, winding roads, and calm waters below. A must-see detour for those exploring Iceland off the main ring road.
