Krossanesfjall

A rugged mountain rising above the Lón coastline in East Iceland

Krossanesfjall is a dramatic mountain in the remote Lón region of Southeast Iceland, where towering peaks meet the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Situated between Höfn and Djúpivogur, this striking formation is a part of the steep, jagged mountains that define the eastern coastal skyline. The mountain offers incredible views over black sand deltas, winding glacial rivers, and distant glaciers, including tongues from Vatnajökull. While not a major tourist stop, Krossanesfjall is a favorite among landscape photographers and experienced hikers drawn to Iceland’s lesser-known wilds. The surrounding area is rich in birdlife and features untouched valleys and coastal views that remain quiet even during peak travel seasons. It’s a perfect destination for travelers seeking solitude, natural beauty, and dramatic scenery.
