Trentino-Alto Adige
The Gateway to the Alps
Trentino-Alto Adige is Italy’s northernmost region, bordered by Austria and Switzerland. The region is known for its stunning Alpine landscapes, including the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Trento, the regional capital, is known for its Renaissance architecture, while Bolzano is famous for its German-speaking population and the ancient ice mummy, Ötzi. Trentino-Alto Adige is also a popular destination for skiing, hiking, and mountain biking. The region’s cuisine blends Italian and Austrian influences, with dishes like canederli (dumplings) and speck (smoked ham).
