Ilulissat Icefjord
UNESCO Ice Wonder at the Edge of the Arctic
The Ilulissat Icefjord is one of Greenland’s most breathtaking natural wonders and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Located just outside the town of Ilulissat on the west coast, the fjord is fed by the Sermeq Kujalleq glacier—one of the most active and fastest-moving glaciers in the world. Enormous icebergs, some the size of apartment blocks, break off and drift slowly through the fjord before heading into Disko Bay. Visitors can explore the area on foot along marked hiking trails, or by boat, kayak, or even helicopter. The icefjord offers a powerful and humbling glimpse into the raw forces of nature.
