Calm Fjord Views and Hidden Trails in the Westfjords
The northern coastline of Patreksfjörður offers a peaceful and scenic escape along one of the Westfjords’ most beautiful and tranquil fjords. This less-visited stretch features gentle walking trails, sea views, and excellent photo opportunities of the calm waters surrounded by towering mountains. The road along the coast leads past small farms and meadows and is ideal for a slow drive, a relaxed walk, or even just a quiet moment to take in the landscape. The reflections on the fjord during calm weather are mirror-like, and birdlife is plentiful along the shoreline. Unlike the towering drama of Látrabjarg or Rauðisandur, this area invites quiet appreciation of Iceland’s softer coastal beauty. It’s a great picnic spot or photography stop when exploring the Westfjords.
