Rainbow Sculpture
Colorful Art in a Stark Volcanic Landscape
The Rainbow Sculpture (Regnboginn) is a striking and whimsical public art installation located on the Reykjanes Peninsula, by Keflavík International Airport. The arch-shaped structure features the full spectrum of rainbow colors, boldly set against the dark, rugged lava fields and Atlantic coastline of the area. Its playful presence offers a stark contrast to the otherwise minimal, windswept surroundings — making it a popular photo stop and a symbolic welcome (or farewell) to Iceland. Positioned close to the Leif the Lucky Bridge — which marks the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates — the Rainbow sculpture celebrates diversity, creativity, and the surprising harmony between art and Icelandic nature. It’s easy to access by car and a great short stop when exploring the Reykjanes Geopark.
