Látrabjarg

One of the largest bird colonies in the world

Látrabjarg, located at the westernmost point of Iceland in the Westfjords, is one of the largest seabird cliffs in Europe and a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Stretching over 14 kilometers and reaching heights of up to 440 meters, the cliffs are home to millions of birds, including puffins, guillemots, razorbills, and kittiwakes.

During the summer months, Látrabjarg becomes a prime location for birdwatching, as puffins nest on the lower cliffs, allowing visitors to get remarkably close to these charming creatures. The cliffs also offer breathtaking views of the North Atlantic Ocean and a sense of Iceland’s untamed beauty.

Steeped in history and natural splendor, Látrabjarg is more than a birdwatcher’s paradise—it is a testament to Iceland’s unique ecosystems and the rugged beauty of the Westfjords.
