Kobbefjord Research Trail
Educational Hike Near Nuuk
The Kobbefjord Research Trail begins just outside Nuuk, Greenland, and leads into the scenic Kangerluarsunnguaq Fjord (also known as Kobbefjord), approximately 25 km southeast of the city. This trail is commonly used by hikers heading toward the Kobbefjord Research Station, which is part of the Greenland Ecosystem Monitoring program.
The trail typically starts near the Nuuk Correctional Institution (the city prison), which serves as the gateway to Paradise Valley (Kuanninnguit). From there, hikers follow a well-trodden route through the valley, passing several shelters along the way. This path is part of the longer Nuuk-to-Kapisillit trail, and the first few shelters (Shelter 1 and Shelter 2) are situated along the Kobbefjord section.
